For high endurance alpine romantics Salzburger Almenweg long-distance path stage 9.

The Salzburger Almenweg passes romantic alpine pastures and huts and offers many spectacular panoramas along this 9 km stretch of path.
From Dorfgastein via Walchalm you follow the marked trail to the weather cross and then to Biberalm. The path passes the idyllic Wiedner Alm and Kerscher Alm to the Fundner Heimalm where you can stop for refreshments. With your batteries recharged, you then cross the bridge over the Leidalm brook. You have now reached the lowest point of the tour at 1,373 m. The path through the forest goes up to the forest road and then to the Brandner Hochalm, where you can stock up on energy for the final section of the tour. Now you follow the steep trail No. 127A above the tree line to the saddle at 2,019 m. After that the path levels off into an easy walk along several small mountain lakes to the Kleine Scharte (2,070 m). The end of this stage of the long-distance path is just a little bit further along at the cable car station. The Schloßalm cable car (operates every day in the summer from May until mid October) runs down to the valley every hour.
