Recommendation for hikers: S2 Zirbenroas on the Graukogel mountain.

An easy, but rewarding hike, with a stop at the idyllic Graukogelhütte inn en route. It’s no surprise that the Graukogel mountain is favoured by hobby skiers and hikers.

The trail begins just after the middle station of the Graukogel chairlift. The forest path to the left leads towards the Graukogelhütte inn. Here you can hike up through the sparse coniferous forest along a well-prepared track until crossing the chair lift. By now you’ve almost reached the inviting Graukogelhütte inn, which lies in the middle of unspoiled nature, surrounded by centuries-old pine trees. The wonderful sun terrace offers a breathtaking view of the whole Gasteiner Valley. Having fortified yourself, you can hike downhill along the B2 slope (heed slope closures).
If you prefer a longer hike, you can start at the valley station of the Graukogel chairlift and follow first the B2 slope in a wide arc and then the slightly flatter forest path to the middle station of the Graukogel chairlift. The rest of the route is as described above.
